This series began with a simple still life painting of a little yellow jug I'd just brought home from an antique shop. After discovering it was made by Diana Pottery in the 1950s, I couldn't help wondering where it had been and what life it had lived all these years.
Was it the favourite milk jug on the breaky table back in the 50’s? Did it hold freshly picked flowers from grannies garden before being relegated to a young teenager in the 90’s to help keep their stationary?
I’ll never know, so I made it all up.
Each painting imagines another chapter in the life of this little yellow jug, celebrating the everyday moments, homes and memories it might have been part of over the past seventy years.
The Kitchen Bench is set somewhere in the 1970’s. The old school biscuit and sugar jars, the spoon rest (also made in Australia in the 70’s, I think) and super cute portable radio that used to be (still is) my husband’s when he was a kid.
33cm x 33cm x 5.5cm - floating framed in walnut timber. This artwork has d-rings and wire and is ready to hang.
